Sveaskog publishes Annual and Sustainability Report for 2024

Sveaskog’s operating profit for 2024 increased by 44 per cent and amounted to MSEK 2,060 (1,429). The Board of Directors proposes that the Annual General Meeting in April resolves on a dividend to the owner, the Swedish State, of MSEK 1,203 (1,207). The market for wood raw materials, which has been favourable for several years, with record high raw materials prices, has contributed to a strong annual financial result for Sveaskog, despite lower delivered volumes.

“In 2024, we diligently followed our strategy with a focus on increased forest growth, increased climate benefits, increased sustainable returns and the development of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Through more varied forests, which are less sensitive to climate change, we create conditions for both the forest and forestry. We continue to move from a one-sided raw material perspective towards becoming a forest owner that develops more value in its land holdings. In 2024, we have developed the company's land business through collaboration agreements for the establishment of solar parks and at the end of the year we announced our intention to sell our shareholding in Setra Group," says Erik Brandsma, President and CEO of Sveaskog.

“The geopolitical unrest and uncertain market developments at international level that characterised last year will continue and increase in 2025. The introduction of new trade barriers by the USA and increasing uncertainty over security policy in the region affect conditions for trade in both forest raw materials and end products from sawmills and pulp mills. A clear implication for Europe is an increased focus on security, competitiveness and self-sufficiency. Sweden's rich natural resources in forests and land, as well as the country's well-developed processing industry, are an important factor in Europe's success in dealing with the new, more uncertain global situation. Sveaskog is well positioned to contribute to solving the challenges facing Sweden and Europe," says Erik Brandsma.
